Day 1, Keynote 2

Title: Is Craft Beer really all about beer?

Kjetil Jikiun addresses the notion that Craft Beer is about experiencing the story and the people behind the beer. The beer is not a goal in itself, but a way of communicating ideas, passion, a story and human interaction. This is why quality is important; good beer is a great communicator, bad beer is the opposite. He will also discuss how sustaining these values are critical as your business grows.

About: Kjetil Jikiun

Kjetil founded Nøgne Ø, Norway’s first craft brewery, in 2002 after developing a love for the craft beers of the USA. His efforts in educating the Norwegian beer drinkers is respected as the most significant catalyst for the change of Norwegian beer culture; for that he is often referred to as the ‘Grandfather of Norwegian craft brewing’. In 2015 Kjetil left Nøgne Ø to set up his own vineyard on the Greek island of Crete. His new company, Grapes and Gratification, will soon start making natural orange wine. He has not turned his back on craft beer, however, he is presently involved in projects around the globe: Σoλo (www.solobeer.com) for the Greek market, Prvo Visko Pivo in Croatia and Formosa Brewing Co. in Taiwan.
